Happiness

Posted by: Tara on: February 25, 2007

Yesterday, just after I arrived at work, I received a phone call from my absolute best friend (since the 7th grade!), Stephanie. She told me that she misses me and wanted to know if I would be interested in getting together after I get out of work for some popcorn, a DVD and some wine at her place. Absolutely!! When I told her how surprised and touched I was that she would re-arrange her schedule so that she could see me, she told me “that’s what best friends do”. I heart Stephanie.

So, I get to her place just before midnight and we watch Little Miss Sunshine. Honestly, when she first told me that was the DVD she rented I had my serious doubts as to if I’d even like it. I, however, was pleasantly surprised and delighted to find that the movie was quite funny and enjoyable. Good choice Steph.

Now, the wine. It was a good bottle of wine. I’m a growing fan of the red stuff, so my newest thing is to try out different bottles and make a little list, if you will, of what I like and absolutely hate (FYI ~ Barefoot Merlot, not a good thing, took one sip and quickly dumped the bottle down the drain). Anywho, the bottle of wine that I found to be fabulous was the 2005 Woodbridge-Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon. It was really good. I found it to be light and fruity, not too dry, very pleasant. Also went well with the popcorn, hehe. Give it a go if you are so inclined.

My mother pointed out to me today that it’s only 4 days till my birthday. Thanks for the reminder Mom, as if I would forget. Since my newest addiction is now Lia Sophia jewelry she offered to by me $100 dollars worth of jewelry for my birthday. While that is an EXTREMELY tempting offer, I’m not sure that I would want that over just getting the cold, hard cash in my hand. I’ll be thinking that over.

This is what happiness really is: Good friends, good wine and good jewelry. =)

Lodi wine, represent! Or something. Seriously, though, always skip the stuff from Modesto and other southern areas, and go for Lodi/Woodbridge, Sonoma and Napa. The southern stuff just tastes different and weird. They have Delta soil or something.

I planned to call Steph last night, but ended up getting home from my parents at 10, so I didn’t get a chance! Now I’m sad ’cause I could have said hi to you both. :-(
